Links is launching a new Youth Board! This new program will provide training and leadership development for high school students, empowering them to become peer educators about issues related to reproductive health and sexuality.

The goals of the program are:

  • To develop leadership skills among its participants
  • To educate high school students about reproductive and sexual health issues, including sexually transmitted infections, unplanned pregnancy, and HIV/AIDS

This year's topic will be the prevention of HIV and sexually transmitted infections. After team building and initial training, Youth Board members will develop and implement education and awareness initiatives in their school or community — planning and executing their projects from start to finish.

The Links Youth Board meets monthly on selected Tuesday evenings, with a kick-off meeting on Sunday afternoon, October 2. Other meetings may be scheduled as needed as student projects develop.

The Youth Board is open to all high school students. It's a great opportunity to...

  • Make a difference in your community
  • Meet other teens from throughout the North Shore
  • Earn community service hours
  • Improve college and scholarship applications

The Youth Board is facilitated by Amy Skalinder, Executive Director, and Erschel De Leon, Program Director.
