Youth Centers are safe and confidential spaces for people ages 13 to 18 who are lesbian, bi, tranz, gay,or questioning their sexual identities. Trained adult staff are on site to help with making sure the center runs smoothly. We meet in gay-friendly spaces. We have our own room with a CD player, books, magazines, and snacks. We have rules to insure safety and confidentiality. This is a fun place where you can be exactly who you are, no more no less. If you want to learn more about yourself, meet others like you, and have a great time, then get connected with the Youth Centers of the Pride Youth Program.
1 - Confidentiality: What is said in group, stays in group. This includes who was or was not at group and who does or does not attend group. Both youth and adult staff are bound by this guideline. Adult staff will break confidentiality on only three occasions. These occasions are when you state you are in immediate danger of harming yourself, harming someone else, or being physically or sexually abused. In these cases, our utmost concern is your safety and we will break confidentiality in order to keep you safe.
2 - Respect for self and others: Avoid doing anything that will make you less than you are. Come to the center clean and sober. Listen to others without engaging in side conversations that are distracting from the person who is talking. Be honest and genuine in your interactions. Clean up after yourself. In other words, be the best you can be.
For your first visit, get to the center before 6:30 so you can get a program orientation with a code number to insure your confidentiality.
