Why should my daughter go to Links for gynecological services when I can afford to take her to our private doctor?
Appointments are readily available with excellent clinicians who are in private practice or work at large medical centers in the area. The cost is low and the client is given as much time as needed to ensure that all her issues or concerns have been properly addressed. A trained support worker serves as an advocate for the client during the doctor's visit, and makes sure to provide referral information on available resources, if necessary. Birth control pill pick up, pregnancy tests, and emergency contraception are available during the day as well as by appointment during clinic hours.
Young women may return to the clinic for free follow up, or see their own practitioners.
The staff at Links is dedicated to educating and supporting young women in a compassionate non-judgmental way. Our approach is to view the client and her behavior from a "whole person" perspective. Support workers take a thorough medical and social history before routine gynecological treatment is done. Links performs testing for STI's, which is frequently not done in a private doctor's office. We offer short-term counseling and make referrals as needed.
