Sappho's Sisters

Sappho's Sisters is a support group open to young women in grades 9-12 who identify as lesbian or bisexual, or who are questioning their sexual orientation. The group addresses the unique issues that young women face in a safe, supportive, and confidential space.

Sappho's Sisters meets every other Tuesday at our Northfield office from 6:30pm to 8:00pm. Erschel De Leon, the program director, facilitates the group, and dedicated adult volunteers provide additional support, input, and guidance. Group guidelines are the same as those for our Pride Youth Program.

Discussion topics include women's health, community involvement, lesbian history in Chicago and the United States, body image, and women's music. Participants identify additional topics of interest for discussion, and also help to plan and organize field trips to LGBT organizations, women-led organizations, and women-owned businesses.

Sappho's Sisters is a place to connect with other young women, learn about yourself, give and receive support, and enjoy great discussions! Contact Erschel at 847.441.6191 ext. 3 or erscheldeleon@linksyouth.org for upcoming meeting dates, or check our online calendar.
