Links - North Shore Youth Health Service empowers young people to take responsibility for their health, well being and sexuality.

We take pride in our ability to provide all of these services in a safe and supportive environment. If you would like to volunteer with Links, please fill out a volunteer application and mail it to Links. The address is at the bottom left corner of your screen. Be sure to check out each program before applying.

Don't have time to volunteer? Support Links with a monetary donation. Donations are tax deductible and allow us to continue providing excellent services to the north and northwest Chicagoland community. You can specify which program you would like to donate to, or make a general donation to the agency. For more information call 847-441-6191.

Areas of need:

Community Education ( Email: outreach@Linksyouth.org )

Volunteer opportunities/needs: In Community Education trained volunteers are needed to present prevention programs to youth in schools, churches, and other community organizations.

Hours volunteer needed: Flexible hours generally during daytime.

Volunteer restrictions: none.

Comments: Ongoing need, volunteer inservices are given throughout the year.

Medical Clinic ( Email: clinic@Linksyouth.org )

Volunteer opportunities/needs: Physicians, nurses, front desk receptionists, support work counselors.

Hours volunteer needed: Monday and Thursday evenings/6:45 until finished (approximately 9-9:30 PM) and alternate Saturday mornings 8:45 AM until about 11:00 AM.

Volunteer restrictions: Must be at least twenty-five years old. Support workers must be interviewed and attend a seven week 2 1/2 hour training program.

Comments: Prefer volunteers to have some experience or desire to work with youth. Must be non-judgmental and comfortable working with adolescents.

Pride Youth Program ( Email: PrideYouthDir@Linksyouth.org )

Volunteer opportunities/needs: Out gay and heterosexual adults are needed to staff youth centers for gay youth ages 13-18.

Hours volunteer needed: 2x/month (8 hours total) Wednesday evenings/Northfield, Thursday evenings/Palatine, plus initial training and quarterly meeting.

Volunteer restrictions: Must be at least 24 years old.

Comments: Completed applications accepted at anytime.

Young Parent Mentor Program ( Email: outreach@Linksyouth.org )

Volunteer opportunities/needs: The Young Parent Mentor Program provides one-on-one support during pregnancy and the first year of childhood. Trained mentors offer ongoing support to theyoung mother.

Hours volunteer needed: Flexible

Volunteer restrictions: 25 years old

Comments: Volunteers attend a mandatory five session,twelve hour training program. Supervisory sessions are provided every four to six weeks.
