The Community Education Program is a key program of our outreach services. Programs are presented to elementary, middle and high schools and in the community to youth groups, religious institutions and service organizations. Links offers presentations free of charge. Our current list of programs presented by trained volunteers includes:

Acquaintance Rape Prevention
Acquaintance rape awareness empowers young adults with knowledge of the prevalence and prevention of acquaintance rape, and how to help someone who has been victimized.
Grades 8-12

Birth Control
The birth control presentation addresses sexual responsibility, abstinence, and methods of contraception.
Grades 7-12

Introduction to Links Services
This program reviews the services offered to young adults, ages 13-23 at Links: Community Education, confidential medical clinic for young women and men, Pride Youth Program, and the Young Parent Mentor Program.
Grades 9-12, Adult

Keeping in Balance
Keeping in balance is a lifelong struggle. This presentation addresses areas that often challenge young adults- eating, exercising, sleeping, etc. Situations are presented to student groups and they discover creative healthy solutions.
Grades 6 & 7

Pride Youth Program
This presentation addresses gay and lesbian youth issues and how homophobia and intolerance can make schools unsafe for sexual minority youth.
Grades 8-12, Adult

Puberty and Human Reproduction
This series of presentations covers growth and development during puberty. An overview of human reproduction and birth is included.
Grades 5 & 6

Relationships and Responsibility
The word “intimacy” often suggests a sexual relationship. This program is designed to help students identify what it takes to develop valued relationships. A discussion of abstinence is included in this context.
Grades 7-9

Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) Prevention
This prevention program discusses risky behaviors, prevention and the STI's that are prevalent today.
Grades 7-12

Stress Management
Stress is a reality in everyone's life. This program helps students identify the stressors and coping mechanisms in their lives.
Grades 5-8

Substance Abuse Awareness and Prevention
Using a game format, the class competes to answer questions on alcohol, tobacco, steroids, inhalants, marijuana, date rape drugs, etc. Included are questions of real life scenarios to help students with decision-making.
Grades 6-8

Suicide Prevention
When students leave this presentation they will know common signs and symptoms of suicide, but most importantly, how to get help for someone for whom they are concerned.
Grades 7-12

Truth or Dare
This eighth grade decision-making program presents students with realistic situations that may be encountered as they look forward to high school. Topics included are: honesty, plagiarism, bullying, dating pressure and substance abuse issues.
